Banana Chai Spice Smoothie

It is well and truly smoothie season. Over the past weeks I have shifted from eating mainly porridge brekkies to total smoothie town. I alternate flavours regularly, but lately this one has made been amongst the reruns.

I’m totally bummed smoothie season just ended up north of the earth. I’m actually huddled over a hot bowl of soup trying to warm up, but I bet this banana smoothie would taste great heated with all the chai spices.

    1. It’s sad to see smoothie season go…but I do love a good soup too 😉 As it gets to the height of summer I’m sure I will be dreaming of cold nights and hot bowls of soup.

Oh my, this sounds PERFECT! Can’t wait to try it.

Hope I can use normal cow milk…

    1. You can definitely sub milk for whatever type you use – I have been making my own almond milk regularly lately, so it’s my milk of choice at the moment.

      1. Ema Jones says:

Yeah okie, coconut milk would do equally well, I think..

  5. Yesss this sounds so tasty. Love all the spices! Thanks for adding it to the linkup!

    1. Aaaand thank YOU for hosting it! 😉

  6. I should try the spices in our smoothies – love banana and chia but we never do spices (and isn’t chia and chai confusing – the number of times I have been misled by misreading the recipe title!)

    1. Haha – yes, confusing cooking anagrams! I love adding spices to smoothies now, as for a while I got into a bit of a smoothie funk…same old same old all the time. Now another favourite instead of just choc-banana smoothies is choc-cinnamon – really gives it that little something extra!

This sounds so good! I can’t wait to make it when I get home 🙂

    1. Thank you! I hope you enjoy it 🙂

  8. oooh I love chai spice anything, I wanted to make a chai spiced icecream today and use the ice cream maker I haven’t opened yet but figured it would take me ages to read the instructions. Guess I should open the box…

    1. Me too, chai spices are the bomb. I bet once you open it you will never look back….there’s something about eating ice cream straight from the maker when it’s all ‘soft serve’ texture…mmmm….

Wowwww, I bet this tastes amazing! I love the combination of spices you used!

    1. Thank you so much Kayse! Nothing like a good dose of spices to kickstart the day!

      1. Kayse says:

Yessss! Something to warm up the soul a bit and perk up as the day begins!

Although we do not exactly have smoothie season right now, I think this is a great winter smoothie with all those christmassy spices!

    1. Absolutely – I should have called it a smoothie for all seasons! Perfect for spring and summer, but the warming spices make it great in autumn and winter as well. I bet with fresh ginger instead of ground you could even add a bit more heat.

  11. This sounds right up my street. I love banana and almond milk together – it’s sweet enough that I feel like I’m getting a treat and it’s still good for you. Nutmeg on anything gets my vote!

    1. Absolutely – it makes a great dessert! I often have after dinner smoothies, or just some frozen banana with a splash of almond milk and vanilla – if it’s thick enough to eat with a spoon it DEFINITELY feels like a dessert treat 😉

    1. Banana is the love of my life! (I feel so sorry for those who don’t like them – though more for the rest of us)

    This sounds delicious!

  13. Oh wow, this looks amazing! I am always shocked at how many chemicals and artificial sugars are in chai powder. Not to mention MILK POWDER! Yours looks incredible x

    1. It’s crazy isn’t it? Particularly when it’s so easy to mix up yourself – I mean, you could mix up the blend with ground spices and it would keep for ages. It’s not like chemicals and preservatives are even needed! Not to mention milk powder….sneaks into everything!

  14. You’re right, it’s totally smoothie season! This is a great way to have chai all year round – it’s becoming waaaay to hot to brew a pot on the stove but I always crave that chai spice mix 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    1. Agreed, the weather is really kicking up a notch isn’t it? Thank goodness for smoothies 🙂

How’s the weather there? I imagine it is definitely a smoothie season! Yum, the spices in your smoothie reminds me of pumpkin pie spice galore!

    1. It’s definitely warming up Rika! Not too crazy just yet, but having lovely sunny t-shirt kind of days!

Chai spice is totally my thing lately! Can’t wait to give this a try. 🙂

    1. I know right, I’ve been obsessed with it lately too! I’ve been doing chai chia puddings (what a mouthful) which are scrumptious too!
